Due to their hard rock structure, diabases are generally used in outdoor structural applications such as parks, gardens, squares, walkways, pedestrianized city boulevards, overpasses and underpasses, bridge claddings, as well as wall and swimming pool floor coverings. Because of their structural properties, diabases are suitable for all types of surface finishes. The most preferred surface treatments are polishing, honing, sandblasting, sandblasting + brushing (patina), and combed (chiseled) finishes.
